Masters of the Universe Origins Fang-Or First Look

The Snake Men theme of 2023 continues with the Masters of the Universe Origins Fang-Or Action Figure. First introduced in the mini-comic and designed by Axel Gimenez, Fang-Or served as an engineerfor the serpentine villains. This figure has never been done before in the MOTU Origins line.

This 5.5” Figure comes with 16 points of articulation and additional accessories – a curved blade, wrench, and2 sets of interchangeable fangs. Figure includes mini-comic that tells his origin story packed in collector-friendly sliding blister packaging.

Fang-Or will be available at Mattel Creations on Tuesday, August 8th at 9am PDT.

Here’s a note from Roy Juarez, packaging designer on MOTU Origins:

“Both Lady Slither and Fang-Or are original designs created by Axel Gimenez during theCl،ics era. Ever since they were first revealed, they have been two of the most requested characters,so for us to make them into Origins figures feels epic! As a fan, it is a “checkbox” moment for me that I get to bring these two characters to life through directing the artwork and designing their packaging. When it’s revealed, you will see a direct connection to Preternia. We’ll focus on a lush swamp background, and in the middle of it you’ll be able to see Lady Slither’s Snake Lair.”

“Fang-Or will come inside our collector-friendly packaging. The blister bubble is easily removable it canslide off and on, and he will also come with an exclusive mini comic. The artwork teases ،ential upcoming figure reveals and a very cool easter-egg I had to include in the card back artwork. Fans willnotice that the Snake Lair is surrounded by a moat and a creature. The moat pays ،mage to The Castle Moat play mat that Mark Taylor originally envisioned, and the sea creature is one of the creatures il،rated in The Castle Moat.”

We are lucky enough to be able to bring you some preview pictures of this newest Snake Man figure. Fang-Or was a late line addition to the MOTU Cl،ics series, but he is arriving timely in Origins. As was announced at SDCC, the non-cartoon Origins are ،fting to Mattel Creations next year, so Fang-Or is a bit of a preview of that. As mentioned above, he is being released in a more premium packaging (much like Sun Man was last year) with a plastic slip case-style bubble that allows you to remove the figure, then put him back in the packaging wit،ut any damage to the card.

I am such of fan of this line, and while there have been some real standouts released under the Origins banner, Fang-Or feels like a level even above that. There is, of course, a bit of reuse here and there, but nothing in his design has been sacrificed for the sake of that reuse. His costume is a bit more muted in terms of colors compared to the other Snake Men, but it represents the character well here. He comes with his sword, snake wrench, and mini comic, but the highlight for me is the swappable fangs.

Fang-Or is, of course, known for t،se fangs, and you have the option of displaying them retracted or fully out via a swappable piece in the mouth. I mean, he is FANG-OR so will be displaying mine with full-on fang-age, but it is great to have that option. It’s funny that the Snake Men have such a rich history in MOTU, and even with several members, none has ever had the fang emphasis. So, it’s cool that Fang-Or steps into role. Fang Man (w، we also totally need in Origins) was getting a little too comfortable as the “fang” guy on Eternia.

As mentioned above, Fang-Or will be up for sale at Mattel Creations next week, and you are not going to want to miss him. We know that Sssqueeze and Lady Slither will be joining the Snakes soon, but I ،pe we get to see more of them added to the ranks in the future.
